PMC on Host

The PCI Mezzanine Card or PMC (IEEE P1386.1) standard defines an add-on daughterboard which is electrically the same as a PCI card, but mechanically it is only 74 × 149 mm in size and is mounted parallel to its host board as shown in the diagram on the right. The host board may be a VPX, CompactPCI, VME or VXS board.

The XMC (VITA 42.0) standard uses the same form factor as PMC, but with an additional connector provides a high-speed serial fabric interconnect, usually in the form of PCI Express (VITA 42.3).

Like PCI cards, PMC and XMC cards allow the functionality of the host board to be extended to include graphics, ethernet, serial I/O, FPGA, DSP, I/O and counters/timers.

RedLinX® offers a variety of XMC and PMC modules.
