Thermal Imager

The Thermal Imager System allows a particular existing optical aiming system to have a night use capability. This project required the integration of several complex optical and electronic devices, namely a Thermal Imager Camera, a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and an Optical Projection Unit.

It was important that it have good mechanical stability for the optical components to remain in accurate alignment, whilst also being lightweight for portable use. Electronics, mechanics and software were developed to provide the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) which controls the Thermal Imager Camera and the Optical Projection Unit.

Eight production units have been deployed and field testing has proved the design to be a success.
